1/2/11

Greetings Rams’ Fans. The Bloomers hope you and yours had a wonderful New Years Eve and day. Here’s hoping that the savior almighty (Obama) will go stick his head in the sand and 2011 will be prosperous for us all.

FOR SALE – Rams’ PSL’s (4ea) Section 414 (five rows into upper deck) first four seats off of aisle (1-4) Rams’ side of the field. These seats are right on the fifty yard line. These are $1,000 PSL’s, seller will pay name transfer fee.

Bret's smiling here but you wouldn't have wanted to be around him watching the game

This was the final scheduled game of the year and the NFL bumped it to Sunday night since it was win or die for both teams. Hence Bloomer Bret decided he’d watch the game at home. Odds are he’d be asleep prior to its end anyway. Boy was he wrong.

RAMS VS SEAHAWKS

Folks first off we’d like to say congratulations and thank you to the players on this team. For a team comprised mostly of rookies, nobody in St. Louis thought they’d be playing at the end of the season for the division title and a shot at the play offs. If they tell you they did they’re lying. 4-12 were most predictions but some with their head in the clouds or on drugs actually went out on a limb and said maybe 6-10.

We believe the players on the team played with heart, compassion and pride. We don’t think they ever gave up in a game except for maybe the Detroit debacle but blow outs happen. Our hats are off to the players.

What we cannot stand, tolerate, fathom, understand or whatever is Spagnuolo. Last night’s game made it pretty apparent he won’t remain a head coach in the NFL for long unless he changes his ways.

This is the NFL, the greatest sport on earth. When you get a team down, you pummel them just like a prize fighter would. You don’t give them a chance to get up, catch their breath and re-group because 9 times out of 10, they’ll come back and whup up on you.

Last night’s game was the Superbowl for both teams. It was as big as it will get this year as either team probably gets beat out in the first round of the play offs. So in this game, they were playing as if it was the last game ever. Go out and leave everything on the field. Don’t hold anything back. Katie bar the doors because here we come. Well Seattle played that way. Spagnuolo decided to take a conservative route.

THE LAST GAME EVER AND HE PLAYS IT CONSERVATIVELY? Is he that much of a pompous ass or just an ass? Ok so you want to play conservative? Fine, give the ball to Jackson. Seattle couldn’t stop a running game all year long and Jackson is one of the best. Did Spag-no-no do that? Nooooo. Jackson got the ball 11 times. 11 TIMES!? He doesn’t even get warmed up until he’s touched it 15 times and then gets in his groove after 20. 11 times. That is just ludicrously absurd.

Yes there were dropped balls but hey, these are rookies, give them more chances. Bradford didn’t attempt a deep pass until well into the fourth quarter. TOO LATE NOW SPAG-NO-NO. Even Chris Collinsworth pointed out the Rams were being overly conservative and that the Seahawks had pulled everyone up allowing them to bust up the short underneath passes and stuff the run. Spag-no-no is an idiot when it comes to head coaching.

Let’s look at one more thing. Like we said above, you get somebody down in the NFL you jump on them. Stomp them and beat them down so they don’t even want to get up. Look back at the loss to the 49ers and Tampa Bay and Oakland. Had Spag-no-no not played it so conservative once the Rams had a lead, we might have won two of those three or maybe all three and last night’s game would have been meaningless.

Folks this will most likely be the last report you ever read on this website. Odds are the website will go by the wayside as well. Most of the post game fodder here comes from Bloomer Bret. Well he says no more. Last night’s game reminded him of why he quit going to the games, he takes it personally.

This is his town, his City and the Rams are his team. Hey if the Rams play their butts off and get beat, give the opposition credit where it’s due but don’t embarrass this town and it’s fans because you were afraid to take the gloves off or let the horse run. By the start of the fourth quarter Bloomer Bret’s blood pressure was so high (he’s always at 110/70 normally) that he could see his heart beat pounding in his forehead. Spag-no-no never game the team a chance until it was too late and they had to go into panic mode and by then the Seahawks were flying high with adrenalin.

The Rams have nothing to be ashamed of. Spag-no-no on the other hand ought to be the guy apologizing to his players, Stan Kronke and most of all the great fans of St. Louis. Players want to know why fans sell their tickets? Because they take it personally and when the team beats themselves rather than gets beat, it hurts.

Bloomer Bret says no more, he’s done. He was so worked up after that game he couldn’t sleep and tossed and turned when he did finally. Adios, see you later, aufetersein, sionara, good bye, good riddance.

Finally the St. Louis Bloomer’s Tailgating Club would like to wish you the very best. May your hopes and dreams all come true and may your skies always be sunny and blue. That’s it folks, be good, take care and good bye.

Greetings Rams Fans. Well the Rams would be at home today to take on the San Francisco 49ers trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. Having felt like the Maytag repairman again last week, it was nice that Bloomer Bret’s sister and bother-in-law and Keet showed up.

The beer was cold, the food was good and the game was exciting. Being the day after Christmas the gang actually did a Christmas shot to boot. A good time was had by all.

Sister Barb and her Gu Gu doll Dave watch the Rams with El Guapo and Keet

RAMS VS. 49ERS

Folks after the way the Rams played last week against the Chiefs, nobody was sure what was going to happen today. That said the Rams Fans in the dome were pumped and were rockin’. They were fired up if nothing else and we think that might have helped to fire up the players some too.

The Rams as they have done so often this year jumped on top first. The 9ers would win the snap and the now unemployed Singletary would elect to defer. With the help of a pass interference call, the Rams would wind up with the ball on the 9ers 1 yard line after moving the ball consistently down the field and Jackson would take it in. Befor long the Rams would be up 12-0 and looking good.

The defense wasn’t giving up anything and the 9ers couldn’t even get a 1st down and then just like that, one big punt return and the 9ers picked up 7. But the defense persevered while the Rams offense sputtered as it has done so much through out the year. First quarter attack and get the lead, once gotten now be conservative. Spagnuolo has got to learn in the NFL when you get somebody down, pummel them so they can’t get back up. Not long after the punt return and having gained a mere three first downs, the Rams gave up a 60 yard pass play for a TD and would trail at half time 14-12.

In the third quarter the momentum seemed to be continuing with the 9ers. But their kicker would miss a field goal and Atogwe would later pick off a pass and the Rams would get a field goal and lead 15-14. The Rams would get a TD early in the fourth and take the lead 22-14. The 9ers would keep fighting though and would eventually get a field goal making the score 22-17.

With just under four minutes to play, Amendola would return a kickoff 84 yards. The Rams would fail to take it in on three straight running plays and would settle for a field goal, 25-17. Time would eventually expire as the 9ers tried to make their way down field and that would be that. RAMS WIN!

So now the Rams go into Seattle for a game that’s been moved to Sunday night, prime time. Winner takes the NFC West. The Rams have proved they can win on the road but this will be their biggest road game yet. There is no next week, next time or anything else, just next year for the loser.

That’s it for this week folks. Have a good week Rams Fans. Don’t take any wooden nickels, keep the shiny side up and as always, watch your top knot.

12/19/10

Hello once again Ram’s Fans! It was a cold and gloomy day in Saint Louis although we’re sure the tailgaters were out in force. Bloomer Bret would go to his usual haunt only to be like the Maytag Repairman. Sigh, the day wasn’t going to get any better.

Bloomer Bret playing the Maytag repairman, at least for three quarters anyway. Showing up for the last quarter does not get you on the website

RAMS VS CHIEFS

Folks as much as we hate to say it, this game was reminiscent of the Lambs of the last 6 years. The game was ugly and aside from Jackson and the defense (for the most part) the Rams didn’t show up.

The Rams got the ball first and were moving the ball with ease but got hung up (again) in the red zone. Jump out to a 3-0 lead. The defense shuts KC down and the Rams come right back but again get stymied although this time because they shot themselves in the feet with stupid penalties. Tack on another 3 for a 6-0 lead. If only it shoulda, woulda, coulda been 14-0.

Before long the Chiefs would strike back albeit not easily and take a 14-6 lead into half time. Folks after the second field goal on their 2nd drive, the Rams never saw the KC side of the 50 yard line again. Well ok except for their 3rd series which was a result of an interception and they started at the KC 48 only to back peddle.

The offense (other than Jackson), was flat. The play calling was flat and unimaginative. The Rams committed stupid penalties. It was ugly. The defense would concede only two field goals and the Chiefs would take a 20-6 lead into the 4th quarter. Then amazingly enough, somebody woke the you-know-what-up and the Rams scored a TD. 20-13 with almost five minutes left. One more defensive stand and the Rams would have a chance to tie the game.

Unfortunately, the defense that had spent the better part of the ENTIRE game on the field, gave up an 80 yard run on the Chiefs 2nd play from the 18. An easy two yard scamper after that and the Chiefs pretty much sealed it up with a score of 27-13 which was the final.

Next week the Rams will be home again to take on the 49ers. Their final game will be on the road in Seattle. If the Rams REALLY want to make the play offs this year, they must win their next two games. Otherwise it’s wait until next year. If they continue to put forth the effort we watched yesterday however, they might as well save us all a bunch of time and money and pack it in now. Hell why risk injury for that lethargic performance.

Finally the St. Louis Bloomer’s Tailgating Club would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas! If it’s a holiday you don’t celebrate, have a good time anyway. That’s it folks, be good, take care and as always, “watch your top knot”.

Greetings Rams Fans. Well the Rams would be on the road today to take on Drew Brees and the rest of the New Orleans Saints. So we would find Bloomer Bret once again at a local watering hole. Bret would be joined by Kapper the third and that would be all.

El Guapo and Kapp III enjoy a few beers while watching the Rams against the Saints

RAMS VS. NEW ORLEANS

Folk the Rams were heavy underdogs in this game, taking on last year’s world champions in their own house. The Rams have been playing well lately and had won their last two road games but the Saints are high octane offense that the Rams have yet to really see. They could ill afford any miscues in this game.

Unfortunately that’s just what they did. Bradford would be picked off twice at the goal line, one of which would be returned immediately for a TD and Jackson would fumble just past mid field which would also lead to a Saints TD. The two interceptions stopped Rams TD’s. The fumble stopped a drive in which the Rams were looking great. Add three TD’s to the Rams and take two away from the Saints and it results in a 34-17 game favor the Rams. But we all know the “if” saying.

The Rams would lose the game 31-13 but had they not miscued, they were otherwise in the game through all four quarters. They were also playing with a beat up, injured defense and no name group of receivers. While the Rams lost it was still an enjoyable game to watch. It is easy to see, barring any major injury disasters that the Rams are a quickly rising team. Maybe they’ll make the playoffs this year, maybe they won’t but next year they’ll be in the hunt. This isn’t Bugger’s team anymore, it’s Bradford’s and he’s making a difference.

That’s it Rams Fans. Next week the cross town rivals Kansas City Chiefs come to town. It will be very interesting to see if the Rams keep their intensity level up or fall flat in a big let down. This is a major game for both teams and their paths toward this year’s playoffs. Is it a “must win”? Perhaps not but for both teams, lose this game and it makes all the rest “must wins”.

Have a great week Rams Fans, stay out of trouble and “watch your top knot”.

12/5/10

Hello Ram’s Fans. This Sunday sucked in St. Louis. Overcast, cold and bits of tiny snowflakes falling intermittently all day. Good thing the Rams were in AZ for this game, road or not. Bloomer Bret would belly up to a table at the usual place and be joined by Kapp the 3rd, Keet, the Wolfman and Mr. Ironside himself who made his first appearance ever.

El Guapo, Ironside, Wolfman, Keet and Kapp the 3rd have a good time watching the Rams whup up on Arizona.

RAMS VS CARDINALS

Folks Bloomer Bret thinks he’s coming down with something. Said he felt like a loaded semi ran him down. Hence today’s review is going to be brief. Rams win, Rams win! Later. Ok just kidding. The Rams did win but let’s see if we can’t give you a flavor of the game.

The Rams kicked away to the Big Red and promptly let them move it right down the field. It was like “where’d our defense go” and more importantly, it was making Andersson look good as QB for the Cardinals. The defense would finally stiffen and the Big Red would have to settle for a field goal.

The Rams would promptly go three and out and the Cardinals would quickly move down the field scoring another field goal and within a few minutes, it was 6-0 bad guys. But the defense would buckle down and the offense would get it in gear and before long it was 6-6. The Rams would take the lead 9-6 in a game of field goals until early in the fourth quarter when Jackson would break free scoring a TD making it 16-6. The Rams would later add an insurance field goal and take the game 19-6.

Folks the Cardinals really tried to get physical with the Rams but these Rams can take a punch. I think they gave back just as much as they got. The Cardinals would have to use all three of their QB’s. It wasn’t a pretty win but it wasn’t an almost lose it in the 4th quarter win either. Arizona played tough but the Rams were tougher, end of story.

So the Rams are now 6-6 and in first place in their division. Next week they go to the Big Easy to take on the Saints, last year’s Super Bowl Champs. But they’re not playing as well as they did last year. They can be beat but it will take an almost flawless game by the Rams. Hopefully with a little luck, the 49ers can beat the Seahawks on the 9ers home turf. The Rams are really in charge of their own destiny.

That’s it for now Ram’s Fans. Next week the Rams travel to New Orleans for another 3:00 game. Maybe Bloomer Bret will stay home and make his world famous Jambalaya. Have a great week and “watch you top knot”.
